According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal and Newcastle want to sign 70 million euros (33 billion naira) rated Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen.
Both premier league clubs missed out on Serbian forward, Dusan Vlahovic – the Fiorentina striker agreed a €75m deal to join Serie A giants Juventus.
The Gunners are seeking to replace former club captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he fell out with manager, Mikel Arteta while Newcastle United are looking to build for the future backed with the billions of their new owners.
Napoli paid €80m to sign Osimhen from Lille in 2020, although the transfer is the subject of an investigation into inflated fees over youth team players in part-exchange.
The 23-year-old seems to be built for the pace of the premier league as he is quick and has shown leadership qualities this season at Napoli. The Nigerian has already scored nine goals in 16 competitive games for the Azzurri this season.
Osimhen withdrew from the Super Eagles squad to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to Covid-19 and has since returned to action for Napoli wearing a protective mask due to a cheekbone and eye socket surgery he had in November last year.
