Arsenal welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates stadium for their penultimate game of this Premier League season. Both teams are currently in a mid-table position; a position familiar to Palace but foreign to the Gunners, as we enter the final week of the Premier League season.
Although the Eagles have been inconsistent in recent weeks, they can be confident of scoring goals against an Arsenal side that cannot defend with utmost efficiency. Palace twice came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at Selhurst Park on Sunday, though that was only their fourth win at home in 2021 and their third victory in 11 games since the end of February.
Christian Benteke, Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha were the architects of the Eagles’ success against Villa, and that in-form trio should create problems for Arsenal on Wednesday. The Eagles should be able to land a blow against Arsenal with their attacking trio,
Arsenal secured a third consecutive Premier League win for only the second time this season last week with a confidence-building 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Gunners’ surprise win over their London rivals also pushed their winning streak on the road to three games.
The Gunners have performed better in recent weeks, especially away from home. Mikel Arteta’s charges have lost just twice in their last 11 league fixtures away from the Emirates Stadium overall.
While Arteta has gotten positive results in recent weeks, Arsenal’s defensive record is still a source of concern. The Gunners have kept three clean sheets in their last 15 Premier League games since January.
It’s also important to note that the North-London outfit have prevented their neighbors from scoring in just one of the clubs’ last eight encounters. Both teams have scored in six of the most recent seven of those contests.
