Akwa United returned to the top of the NPFL table after playing 0-0 against Enugu Rangers in a match-day 22 fixture at the Nest Of Champions, Uyo.
Akwa united are on 41 points, same as Kano Pillars, but they top the table on plus 15 goals difference compared to Pillars’ plus 8.
Akwa utd came out in search of early goals but couldn’t convert the few chances that came their way.
In the second minute, Mfon Udoh was slipped through on goal but he could only get the slightest of touch as Rangers goal-keeper, Mutawakilu claimed it easily.
Issif Traore was sent off for Rangers in the dying moments of the game, which gave Akwa Utd a free-kick at the edge of the Rangers’ box.
The free-kick gave a chance for Akwa utd to score in stoppage time but it was wasted by defender, Olisah Ndah, who shot wide.
