Super Eagles number one goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has revealed that Dutch champions, Ajax Amsterdam and top clubs in England, Spain, and Belgium are interested in signing him.
Okoye joined Sparta Rotterdam from Fortuna Düsseldorf II in the summer of 2020, and he is has become the first choice goalkeeper for the Dutch Eredivisie club side. He has now revealed that some top clubs want him as their goalkeeper.
In an interview with Transfermarkt, Okoye said: “Big clubs from England are also interested and a big club from both Italy and Belgium. They have both already been in contact with my agent, but until the summer I will be fully focused on playing. There is work to be done here and there are goals to be achieved.
Speaking on the offer from Ajax, he said: “Ajax have contacted Sparta, but not with me or my agent. I have a very good relationship with technical director Henk van Stee and trainer Henk Fraser. I am sure that if it were to become concrete, I will be the first to hear it.
The 21-year-old has made 23 appearances for Sparta Rotterdam this season (20 in the league) and he has kept a total of 7 clean sheets in all, 2 in his last 2 matches.
The German-born goalkeeper made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a friendly match against Brazil, on 13 October 2019, and has remained in goal since then, keeping the number one shirt in 4 more matches.
