AFROBASKET 2021: D’Tigers fall to Côte d’Ivoire in Group C decider

Nigeria male basketball team D’Tigers lost 68-77pts to Côte d’Ivoire in their last Group C game at the ongoing 2021 AfroBasket championships.

The defeat denied Coach Mike Brown’s men the chance to pick an automatic FIBA Afrobasket quarter-final ticket in Rwanda

The game which was the group’s decider lived up to expectations as both teams played some of the best basketball at the tournament so far. Nigeria struggled for the better part of the game with the Ivorians racing to a lead in the first quarter and battled valiantly to remain ahead.

The Ivorians secured the win majorly because of their defensive performance, getting 44 rebounds as compared to D’Tigers’ 30.

D’Tigers struggled with their shooting averaging 41.8% field goal conversion with 29.6% shooting accuracy from the three-point line.

Benjamin Emelogu led the team in scoring with 13pts, 2stls and 5 rebounds. Uzodinma Utomi had 12pts, TK Edogi recorded 10pts while Gombe Bull’s Ibe Abuchi Agu was solid defensively, helping with 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 5pts.
