The 2021/22 Premier League season will kick off in London with a derby between newly promoted Championship playoff winners, Brentford, and Arsenal on Friday night of August 13 – the first time the Gunners will start the season on a Friday night since 2017.
Brentford on their part will be featuring in the top-flight for the first time ever and would be hoping to pull off a shock win on opening night which would certainly serve as a major embarrassment for an Arsenal side looking to somehow improve their fortunes after finishing outside the European places for the first time in over two decades.
That trip to the Community Stadium in West London is followed by matches against reigning European champions, Chelsea, in front of home fans at the Emirates Stadium on August 22nd then a trip to the north to face defending Premier League champions, Manchester City on August 28th.
While this will be a first-ever meeting between both sides in the Premier League, Arsenal knocked Brentford out of the League Cup with a 3-1 win at the Emirates back in September 2018.
How many points can the Gunners manage from their opening three games?
